845 tube is the most respected high end tube and the most powerful in single ended operations without going for radar tube 833a. However, the technical difficulty in designing and making a good sounding amplifier output 28W of power in single ended operation is much much greater than 300B tube operating at 8W of output. The barrier of entry is the output transformer.

Sophia Electric 845-03 and 845-05 output transformers were designed by Dr. DWU and Richard Wugang and made in house by Sophia Electric. Output transformer winding method and material choice have the No.1 impact on amplifier sonic characters, thus it is the top secret of tube amplifier making. All Sophia Electric transformers are potted with metal case against humidity and against copycats.

Option 1: $1,200 for one matched pair of Sophia Electric 845-03 output transformers (steel case, potted).
Option 2: $2,000 for one matched pair of Sophia Electric 845-03 output transformers, signature edition (aluminum case, potted).
Option 3: $1,600 for one matched pair of Sophia Electric 845-05 output transformers (steel case, potted).

Secondary 0-4-8 ohm taps are free. Other impedance (16 ohm, 11 ohm and 6 ohm) is $300 extra for each additional secondary tap.
